Lecanopteris celebica
$70.00

Locally endemic species from Sulawesi (where formerly known as Celebes) with unique large and lush hollow caudexs in light green before eventually changing to butter and deep purple when old. The elongated deeply lobed fronds can grow to 2 ft. long.

This species require extra humidity and perfect air movement to grow well. Rather sensitive to pH shifts, mostly due to over fertilizing. It is recommended to change the medium about once a year.

Offered are starter plants, established in 4" pot

Lecanopteris crustacea
$25.00

This lowland species natives to Peninsular Malaysia always found growing associated with mass root of platycerium ferns. It is only once of a few species that has flattened rhizome with red-brown dots scattered on, with sturdy fronds rise along the spreading tips.

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Offered are starter plants, established in 4" pot

Lecanopteris lomarioides 2
$55.00

New clone from type specimens collected in Sulawesi, forming rather large flatten rhizomes. The rhizomes have more percentages of lighter (silver background color) that makes them look brighter than the Philippines form. fronds also wider and can stretch up to 3 ft. long!

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water. It also usually produces several fronds that need to trim out some, allowing rhizomes access enough light for good shape.

Offered are starter, established in 4" pot

Lecanopteris lomarioides 1
$55.00

A rarely offered species from the Philippines, characterized by large hollow spotted rhizomes developing long arching fronds in deep green while spreading.

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water. It also usually produces several fronds that need to trim out some, allowing rhizomes access enough light for good shape.

Lecanopteris linguiformis
$40.00

Strange wonderful species does not form large hollow rhizomes like other species. Instead it develops two type of fronds, the regular, sturdy fronds that can grow to 12-15'' with stunning sori bumps underside, and the smaller, almost rounded fronds with lobbed margins cover the surface as it spreading and then develop nestled root inside, becoming home for ants who provide fertilizer and protection in return. Both frond types have nice crocodile texture.

As the plant grows larger the lower part of the sterile fronds are either elongated and hug the surface with the same function as the shield fronds.

Our selection cloned from type specimens collected in New Guinea, which seem to have the most beautiful leaf pattern.

Similar to other Ant Ferns, ants are not necessary for cultivation. This species, however, does not perform well in pot or basket cultures. It seems to do best when mounted on wooden or tree fern plaques with high-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Lecanopteris luzonensis
$55.00

This Philippines oddity forms large hollow rhizome in pale green, while the fronds are slender and much smaller than other species. It is a fast grower, in optimum conditions can develop to 1×1 ft. clump in a year!

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Lecanopteris sinuosa Sport 2
$55.00

This sport of the highly variable Lecanopteris sinuosa bears slender frond terminates with fabulous large crested tips...very incredible!

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Lecanopteris sinuosa Sport 1
$55.00

Besides fast and hardy, Lecanopteris sinuosa is also a highly variable species. We have been sowing spores for 5 years and so far got 10 different sports. This is the one we proudly present, with the fronds their entire undulating glossed margins heavily toothed.

It requires very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Lecanopteris "Yellow Tips"
$75.00

This handsome Charles Alford hybrid has rarely seen in cultivation for years. It is easily distinguished by large hollow rhizomes that are in bright green, with yellow spines (new growth) when young before eventually change into dark brown color. The fronds look similar to its parent, Lecanopteris luzonensis.

It is rather sensitive to overwater when compared with other species. Allow the media fairly dry, while humidity stable at high level, with perfect air movement is major key to success.

Lecanopteris sinuosa
$20.00

An unusual lowland species that has rounded silvery rhizome with robust dots scattered on. The spore-bearing frond is lancelate and succulent, reaching 5-6".

It is a vigorous grower and far more tolerant of low humidity than others. Need very good drainage or mounted on tree fern plaques with good-quality sphagnum. Care should be exercised not over water.

Offered are mature plants, established in 4" pot

Lecanopteris "Tatsuta"
$55.00

A cool hybrid developed by Carlos Tatsuta between Lecanopteris crustacea and Lecanopteris celebica. It forms large hollow spotted rhizome. When grown in intermediate conditions, the growing points are in pink lip color. The rich green fronds can grow to 10"-12" above the clump.

It seems fairly easy when compared with other hollow rhizome type species. Does best in very coarse, porous medium under light shade and good air movement. Allow it getting fairly dry between watering.

Offered are established divisions in 4" pot
