Mapania sp. Malaysia (A)

$45.00

This rare and unusual species was formerly known as Mapania caudata, a species of Cyperaceae endemic to Peninsular Malaysia. However, after further research we found it would not be the true Caudata. It has dark narrow strap leaves with heavy metallic blue sheen, even without flash and the color is easy to maintain without much effort. The leaves can grow to 2 ft. long As mature cluster of white flowers borne from the leaf axils and the plant produces new growth at base, slowly developing a tight, eye-catching clump.

This is rather a challenge plant. Need extra humidity and partial shade to grow well. Rather sensitive to wide cultural swings so it is excellent as a greenhouse or terrarium subject. From our experience it does best in perlite based medium with additional of peat or sphagnum.

Offered are divisions, established in 3" pot
