Psilotum complanatum

$110.00

Psilotum complanatum is probably a survivor from a very primitive lineage of fern-like vascular plants. Despite wide distribution, it is rather rare and not often seen in cultivation. This species is easily distinguished from another species of the genus; Psilotum nudum, by having flatten, hanging, branching stems, which can grow to 3ft. long. Each tip ends with simple, rounded sporophylls.

Although it is an epiphyt usually found lives associated with other epiphytic fern, especially Platycerium, it can be cultivated alone in basket culture with very coarse, porous media. Even so, we found it performs much better when mounted on a slab of tree-fern or wooden plaque using old platycerium root slices cover around the roots and top with high quality sphagnum.

Offered are divisions, established in 6" pot
